THE BIU JI SPECIAL PART 2(ESPECIAL BIU JI: PARTE 2)

BIU JI SPECIAL PARTE 2
O Segredo do Gaang Sau (耕手)

THE BIU JI SPECIAL: PART 2
THE SECRET OF Gaang Sau (耕手)

As it was posted  in THE BIU JI SPECIAL PART 1 this sequence of movements is best remembered for his motion with his fingers as if something IS BEING pierced (as in the photo next to Si Taai Gung). But in 2001/2002, when I was a practitioner in this field ,trusting fingers was not exactly getting my attention, but, another movement: The Gaang Sau (耕 手).

Gaang Sau (耕手) , aparece no Siu Nim Tau na terceira parte.

Gaang Sau (耕 手), appears in the Siu Nim Tau run  on the third party. And at the time, I just saw the movements as "techniques to be tested", I was somewhat bewildered when I saw in the Biu Ji, this same corporal device .

 Gaang(耕) - significa "arar", e Sau(手) significa "Mão".

In the left picture, taken in 2003, my Si Fu Julio Camacho (11G VT) demonstrates the movement.

Gaang (耕) - means "plow" and Sau (手) means "Hand. "

I remember within my limitations, to had no idea to conceive a situation in which this movement acted. So I used to think a lot:

"Suddenly, a guy comes with a  low and high punch at the same time!" or "Suddenly, he kicks me and I defend attacking  his neck." etc etc ...

So I decided to ask  Si Hing Mauro(11G VT)the purpose of this movement ...

(Si Hing Mauro Lima, Si Fu e eu, 2010)
(Si Hing Mauro 11G VT, Si fu and me in 2010)

"Bom, deixa eu perguntar pro Si Fu então."

Si Hing Mauro, may not remember, but he gave me an answer I would hear for many years later, again and again. What's more, I also would use this to respond to other people years later. The answer was in brazilian portuguese colloquial language:

"What do you think?"

At the time I could only think: "If I thought something I would not ask!" (LOL) but I just acted and thought:

"Well, let me ask  to Si Fu."

(Doing the Biu Ji in 2007 in front of Si Fu).

- respondi.

Si Fu refletiu e respondeu:

-Pra que que você acha que serve?

Showing the Gaang Sau (耕 手), I talked to Si Fu, that I did not understand its operation. It was my last session in Biu Ji, and I was doing it with Si Sok Felipe Soares(11G VT).

Si Fu looked at me and asked:

-But what you do not understand exactly?

-What is the purpose. - I answered.

Si Fu tought a little bit and replied:

-What do you think ?

Writing now,I just feel what I felt at that time .. lol Not satisfied, in the end of the session, after Si Sok Soares(11G VT) make his final comments, I insisted with Si Fu on the subject. [Seriously, I have no idea "why" I was brooding with Gaang Sau (耕 手) I may have died trying to use it in another incarnation .. whatever!]

Si Fu said since leaving the room:

-There will be a seminar with Si Gung, ask him!

I was very shy, and I remember like it was today, the room filled there in the old Jacarepagua MYVT BRanch.
Si Gung was in the middle of a circle of practitioners talking about Biu Ji.
I went to the bathroom and came back thinking "Now I will ask him " For me, it was extremely difficult to speak before so many people.

Si Gung at some point asked:

-Does anyone have any doubt about that? - about any subject. And completely out of context I raised my arm with such ferocity,  that someone unaware would think I was going to shout "By the power of Greyskull"but I just said: "I have!"

For non-Thiago. - Si gung said. - Do not know if it was thought transmission, but the Si Fu which was near the door smiled.

And I asked:

"I was thinking, then I asked, so I do not understand  the use of Gaang Sau (耕 手)."

Si Gung was holding a  pilot pen in his hand, and laughed with his hands on his hips and made some steps looking at the ground. And he said:

-What do you think?

Si Fu laughed out loud and some people who already know too ... lol

Qualquer outra pessoa, acharia que talvez ninguém soubesse me responder.

Any other person would think that perhaps no one knew the answer. It was not my case. I was sure about the knowledge of my Si Hing, Si Fu and Si Gung, I was just do not understand why I was not receiving their knowledge.

In the practice of Kung Fu is very important that the practitioner creates the environment for learning, by relying on the terms generated by the other. And not simply seeking an answer.

"Kung Fu (功夫)", according to Professor Peimim Ni (Phd from the University of Connecticut and chairman of the Association of Chinese Philosophers in America), originally meaning the time spent on something and its meaning can be extended to represent since the effort an employee activity by expanding the skill attained by guidance on the ways
appropriate to carry out this effort.

So , today I understand the meaning of do not give answers to the younger. 'Cause there are no answers.

"A dança é um fim em si.O Kung Fu é um meio para qualquer fim." (julio camacho,2011)
"Dance is an end in itself. Kung Fu movements is a way for any purpose." (Julio Camacho 11G VT, 2011)

Si Fu was just commenting to me that the difference between a dance and a Kuen To (拳套), is that dance when you practice, the movement is just that same. What will you perform on the show, is the same movement. In Kuen To (拳套), the movement can be everything, but not necessarily that. That is, the Jiu Sik (式 招) poorly we call  "Technique" is actually a "device" that activates any movement.

Thats why you can not answer for what use Gaang Sau (耕手) exists. 'Cause this way, you will not being able to see all the other possibilities.

JIU SIK(式招) can be something like "body device" , and when we have a device expressed trough our body by combat movements, we can express that in combats or take a Martial Experience from taht an put it in our lives.

Means "to summon" or "provocate".

Sik(招) pode significar "Estilo". Also means "Style"

Just do not ask me for what you use Gaang Sau (耕手) or I´ll have to answer... Well, you know!
