Bruce Lee podia ser um cara que reclamava do que ele chamava de tradição, e dizer que "Sistemas" eram perda de tempo. Mas ele sempre falou bem de seu Si Fu Ip Man.

Bruce Lee could be hard sometimes when talking about tradition in martial arts , but he always talk good about his Si Fu.

Bruce Lee ao lado de Ip Man virava um garoto novamente, e esse respeito era extremamente visivel por mais que digam o contrário.

E parece que agora, 4 décadas depois, Robert Downey Jr. parece estar refazendo os passos de Bruce Lee com relação ao Ving Tsun. Por um outro caminho é verdade, mas com a mesma essência: Elogiar a arte, e mostrar respeito extremo por seu Si Fu.

Bruce by Ip Man's side become a boy again, and his respect for him was very high. You could see that.

So, four decades later, it seem that by a different path with the same essence, Robert Downey Jr follows Bruce Lee´s steps spreading Ving Tsun showing a great respect for his Si Fu.

"AS ARTES MARCIAIS AJUDARAM ELE A SUPERAR SUAS FALHAS. AGORA ELE SÓ PRECISA DESCOBRIR COMO SUPERAR SEU SUCESSO."

Robert Downey Jr não se exercita como nós, caras comuns. Adulação o banha desde o momento em que ele chega em seu estúdio de artes marciais em Los Angeles. Ele abre a porta da frente e é saudado com uma foto dele mesmo e seu treinador e seu filho de 16 anos Indio. A legenda abaixo diz: "Si Fu, Indio e eu estamos avaliáveis para proteção pessoal".

Ele dá mais um passo. E antes de você processar o banner anterior existe um maior ainda do Los Angeles Times falando de uma história onde um cara chamado Robert Downey Jr  mata vários bandidos em sua mente.

Séries de abdominais seriam muitos mais fáceis desse jeito.

Downey carrega uma pequena caixa preta. O conteudo da caixa não é visivel aparentemente. Ele bota a caixa gentilmente e puxa uma roupa laranja de prisão. O efeito disso faz com que seus olhos de filhote se tornem tão grandes quanto os d euma animação japonesa. Ele então reverencia Eric Oram, o proprietário do estúdio.

Martial arts helped him overcome his failures. Now he just has to figure out how to overcome his success.

Robert Downey Jr. doesn’t work out like us regular folks. Adulation bathes him from the moment he arrives at his Los Angeles martial arts studio. He opens the front door and is greeted by a framed photo of himself with his trainer and his 16-year-old son, Indio. The inscription reads: SIFU, INDIO AND I ARE AVAILABLE FOR PERSONAL PROTECTION. He takes another step. Before you can hum the opening bars to “Cult of Personality,” there’s an even larger blowup of a Los Angeles Times story, about some dude named Robert Downey Jr. slaying all the bad guys in his mind. Six-pack abs would be so much easier if this kind of positive reinforcement were available at the Y.

Downey is carrying a small black box. The box’s contents are not readily apparent. He puts the box down gently and pulls on a prison-orange hoodie. The effect enlarges his brown puppy-dog eyes to Japanese anime proportions. He bows to Eric Oram, the owner of the studio.

“Good morning, sifu.”

Si Fu é como os instrutores são chamados no Ving Tsun, uma arte marcial que tem sido a religião de Downey desde 2003. Is foi por volta de quando ele largou as drogas que o tiraram do mote de celebridades indicadas ao oscar e o colocaram no mote de celebridades indicadas ao esquecimento.
Ving Tsun é considerado o kung fu do artista sensitivo - Bruce Lee foi sua primeira celebridade porta-voz.- porque isso é sobre equilibrio, paz e se tudo falhar, serve para chutar traseiros. Estas habilidades são importantes em Hollywood.

Nós entramos no "tatame". Enquanto Downey tem praticado Ving Tsun por quase sete anos, eu pratiquei por quase sete minutos. "Serio! Não se preocupe em parecer um idiota!" Ele me diz: "É como na vida: Quanto menos consciente você estiver, melhor funciona. E lembre-se : Muito gelo e advil depois. COnfie em mim quando digo isso."

Sifu is what instructors are called in Wing Chun, a martial arts discipline that has been Downey’s religion since 2003. That’s around the time he dropped the drugs that molted him from Oscar nominee to celebrity death pool nominee. Wing Chun is considered the sensitive artist’s kung fu — Bruce Lee was its first celebrity spokesman — because it’s all about balance, peace, and, if all else fails, ass-whipping. These skills are particularly important in Hollywood.

We step onto the mat. While Downey has been practicing Wing Chun for almost seven years, I have been practicing Wing Chun for almost seven minutes. “Seriously, don’t worry about looking like an idiot,” he tells me. “It’s like life: The less self-conscious you are, the better it works. And remember, lots of ice and Advil afterward. Trust me on that one.”

“That’s 10,” he barks at Downey.

Downey drops and gives him 10 push-ups. Many former addicts talk of trading the addiction of drugs for the addiction of exercise. Downey’s one of them. The more he sweats, the more he enters an opiate-free nirvana. “I love this,” he whispers. “Isn’t it awesome?”

Nós mudamos para um exercicio de mãos. "Você não quer lutar com um caminhão!" diz Oram, um homem careca com intensos olhos e mais intensas sombrancelhas: "Você quer sair da frente do caminhão. Uma vez que você saia da frente você pode começar a jogar pedras nele." Downey mexe na roupa da penitenciária.

"Isto é sobre foco" Downey me diz "Ving Tsun ensina você a se concentrar mesmo aqui ou fora lidando com os problemas do mundo.É uma segunda natureza para mim agora. Eu nem mesmo me ligo onde existe um problema."

Oram prepara sua mão para um soco, e Downey "estapeia" seu cotovelo e então contra ataca no pescoço de Oram. Os dois fazem uma elaborada dança ficitici por cinco minutos. Existe apenas uma coisa na maneira  que Downey faz isso: ele repetidamente  levanta sua mão direita para bloquear um soco fantasma de Oram em sua orelha que ele nunca deu, talvez uma mania adquirida para se proteger quando estava na cadeia nos anos 90. Nem mesmo um monte de Ving Tsun podem fazer isso desaparecer.

I’m just trying not to hurl. We move to a hand-to-hand fighting exercise. “You don’t want to fight the truck,” says Oram, a bald man with intense eyes and even more intense eyebrows. “You want to step out of the way of the truck. Once you step out of the way, you can start throwing rocks at the truck.” Downey nods and tugs at his hoodie.

“This is all about focus,” Downey tells me between reps. “Wing Chun teaches you what to concentrate on, whether you’re here or out in the world dealing with problems. It’s second nature for me now. I don’t even get to the point where there’s a problem.”

Oram raises his hand to punch, and Downey slaps away his elbow and then counters to Oram’s neck. The two do an elaborate, fistic dance for five minutes. There’s just one hitch in Downey’s giddyap. He repeatedly raises his right hand to block a phantom ear punch Oram never throws, perhaps a leftover ghost from having to protect himself in the jails he frequented in the late ’90s. No amount of Wing Chun can make that go away.

"A palavra para descrever Robert é dureza." diz Guy Ritchie, o diretor de Downey em "SHERLOCK HOLMES. "Eu sei que isso vai parecer ridiculo descrever um ator, mas ele parece realmente sucata. Ele passou um tempo na cadeia que não necessariamente o deixou mais suave. Ele tem uma real maneira de pensar que é muito maneira!"

After an hour, we’re done. Well, I’m done. Downey keeps working. He pounds on a wooden dummy blocking with one hand and then delivering a combination to a padded face. He lets out a series of grunts and grimaces. A grin slips across his face.

“The word to describe Robert is hard,” says Guy Ritchie, Downey’s director on Sherlock Holmes. “I know that’s fucking ridiculous in describing an actor, but he can really scrap. He’s done time in jail, which didn’t exactly soften him up. He has a real physicality that is pretty fucking amazing.”

 Nos livros de Arthur Conan Doyle, Holmes sabia artes marciais, então Richie, Downey e Oram tomaram algumas liberdades e colaboraram para fazer Sherlock ser um "Badass". Durante a cena chave de luta, Holmes boxeia um cara, e Downey estava relutante em socar o dublês inglês em sua boca de verdade.

In the Arthur Conan Doyle books, Holmes dabbles in martial arts, so Ritchie, Downey, and Oram took some liberties and collaborated to make Sherlock a buff badass. During a key fight scene, Holmes boxes with a behemoth, and Downey was reluctant to punch the British stuntman full in the mouth at first.

“I was like, ‘I can’t or he’s not going to be able to play with his kids this weekend,’ ” recalls Downey. “And Guy was basically saying, ‘He doesn’t have any kids.’ ”

Acompanhe algumas cenas com o uso do VING TSun no filme SHERLOCK HOLMES no qual Robert atuou e teve seu Si Fu Eric Oram como "stunt coordinator".
Não é uma coisa que se diga: "PUUUXA mas é total Ving Tsun!" ou "REPUUUXA mas é só Ving Tsun"(como diria o bandido "quase nada" de Chapolin se me permitem a brincadeira..rs) Mas tá lá!

Its not "sooooo ving tsun" but Ving Tsun is there hidden in his way of move.

Downey reclamou, mas no final do dia o dublê estava com a cara vermelha e inchada.

Ninguém foi socado daquele jeito no estúdio de Oram neste dia mas ele finalmente diz a Downey que o treino acabou.

"Si Fu, estou preocupado com o exame" diz Downey depois de tomar banho. Ele espera "passar de faixa" no Ving Tsun. Uma antes da preta*

"Você se sairá bem" diz Oram solenemente: "Ou não".

Downey complied. By the end of the day, the stuntman’s face was red and swollen.

No one gets beaten up that bad at the martial arts center today, but Oram finally has to tell Downey that’s enough.

“Sifu, I’m worried about my exam,” says Downey, after a shower. He hopes to move up the Wing Chun achievement ladder from green to brown belt — one level away from black belt.

"You will do fine" says Oram solemnly. "Or you wont".

* O Ving Tsun originalmente possui seis níveis de desenvolvimento: Siu Nim tau, Cham Kiu, Biu Ji, Mui Fa Jong, Luk Din Bun Gwaan e Baat Jaam Do. Porém, em algumas escolas como a de Robert Downey Jr no caso, estes 6 níveis são sub-divididos em faixas coloridas.

Oram e Downey tem um relacionamento co-dependente clássico que é algo como isto: Oram ensina Downey de 3 a 5 dias por semana, Downey permanece limpo e sadio, e Oram vai a suas filmagens onde ele serve como confidente, guru, e consultor de luta. Ele então tem direito a usar o nome de Downey e imagem por todo o ginásio e em livros que escreve.

"Quando ele veio até mim, companhias de seguros não queriam o vínculo dele para filmes, ele não conseguia papéis", diz Oram. "Eu disse a ele se ele não aparecesse para a aula, eu iacortar os dedos de seus pés e alimentá-lo de volta com eles. Um dia ele não apareceu, e eu disse-lhe adeus. Então, ele tinha um casal de produtores que me ligaram e confirmaram por ele, dizendo: "Ele estava conosco em uma reunião, ele não tem telefone. É culpa nossa. Não corte sua cabeça fora.

"Wing Chun é todo sobre guardar sua linha central", Downey me diz, falando sobre o lugar onde  arte marcial protege .. "Não combater força com força, usar as duas mãos ao mesmo tempo, concentrar-se em sua própria coisa, e depois você tem que discado, o efeito do balanço, olhe para as aberturas , procure por braços a serem cruzados."

Então esse é o segredo para sua recente prosperidade?

"Oh, sim, cara", disse Downey.

Oram and Downey have a classic codependent relationship that goes something like this: Oram teaches Downey three to five days a week, Downey stays clean and sane, and Oram comes to his movie sets, where he serves as confessor, guru, and fight consultant. He then gets to plaster Downey’s name and picture all over his gym and literature.

“When he first came to me, insurance companies wouldn’t bond him for movies; he couldn’t get roles,” Oram says. “I told him if he didn’t show up to a lesson, I was going to chop off his toes and feed them back to him. One day he didn’t turn up, and I told him goodbye. Then he had a couple of producers call me and vouch for him, saying, ‘He was with us in a meeting; he didn’t have a phone. It’s our fault. Don’t cut his head off.’ He has committed himself to it ever since and turned his life around.”

“Wing Chun is all about guarding your center line,” Downey tells me, talking about the place where touchy-ouchy martial art meets philosophy of life. “Don’t fight force with force; use two hands at the same time; concentrate on your own thing; and after you have that dialed in, effect the balance, look for openings, look for arms to be crossed.”

So that’s the secret to his newfound prosperity?

“Oh, yeah, dude,” says Downey.

A coisa é tão incrível, que apesar de todos na minha época quererem um COMANDOS EM AÇÃO, um boneco do He-Man ou Thundercats. Para mim, duas linhas sempre foram as mais bem feitas. Uma era a do desenho GALAXY RANGERS(foto), eu sempre quis esses bonecos..rs (TRAUMA DE INFÂNCIA DETECTED)

At my time, all the kids wanted a He-Man, GI JOE or a Thundercats doll. But for me, the most perfect were two : One was GALAXY RANGERS dolls(photo).. I always wanted one (CHILDHOOD TRAUMA DETECTED!)

Mas não tinha linha de bonecos que eu quisesse mais do que a do desenho SECTAURS(Sectaurus). Eu cheguei a ter o primeiro da esquerda, e devo dizer que o escudo dele até bem pouco tempo fazia parte das coisas que se acha num quarto em lugares improváveis quando você o arruma!

But for me no doll was so perfect as the SECTAURS(SECTARUS) line. I had the first one from left, and his shield was always in my bedroom when I clean up the bedroom..hehe That kind of stuff that you always found I did not remember to have.

Mas nada se compara a qualidade destes action figures de IP MAN!

But nothing compares to this! Incredible!

No segundo andar de um restaurante chamado Chiong Hua EM hONG kONG, Grão-Mestre Moy Yat aprendeu o Luk Din Bun Gwaan com seu Si Fu Ip Man.

In the second floor of the Chiong Hua Restaurant in Hong Kong, Si Taai Gung Moy Yat leaned the Ving Tsun pole with his Si Fu Ip Man.

Moy Yat perguntou:

-Si Fu , eu ouvi dizer que em Fatsan  existe uma rua chamada Faai Gaap(Kuai Jia 筷梜) . Isso tem alguma coisa a ver com ensinar Luk Din Bun Gwaan?

Grão-Mestre Moy Yat referia-se aos "palitinhos" que são usados para comer em países como China e Japão.E que em inglês chamam-se "CHOPSTICKS".
E é por isso que na novela "WING CHUN(Yong Chun)" de 2007 com Yuen Biao, você vê que a história se passa na Chopstick Street.

Moy Yat asked:

-Si Fu, I´ve heard that in Fat San there is a street called chopstick street. Does that have anything to do with teaching Luk Din Bun Gwaan?

*Chopstick Street appears in Ving Tsun soup-opera(drama) for TV from 2007.

Moy Yat viu que Ip Man por um momento pareceu sentir saudades de sua cidade natal e foi quando ele respondeu:

-Grão-Mestre Leung Jaan viveu na Chopstick Street. Próximo a ela existia um restaurante chamado Tian Hai. Antes de eu vir para Hong Kong eu costumava gostar dos pratos do chef Dou Pi Hai.

Moy Yat saw that his Si Fu felt homesick.

Ip Man answered:

-Grand-Master Leung Jaan used to live in Chopstick Street. Next to that there was a restaurant called Tian Hai. Before I came to Hong Kong I used to like the food made by their chef: Dou Pi Hai.

IP MAN ENSINA O LUK DIN BUN GWAAN A MOY YAT:
IP MAN TEACHS LUK DIN BUN GWAAN TO MOY YAT: 

 Ip Man usou um "Pauzinho"(chopstick) para ensinar a sequência do Luk Din Bun Gwaan a Moy Yat.

Ip man used a chopstick to do that.

Ele disse:

- Primeiro ataque com o bastão três vezes na mesma direção, isso é chamado de "3 pontos", depois use o bastão para praticar o "Cavalo"(馬)***, mova o "cavalo"(馬) para a direita e ataque no quarto ponto. Depois mova o "cavalo"(馬) para a esquerda e faça o quinto ponto fazendo um "circulo" com o bastão.
Mova o "cavalo"(馬) para a esquerda e "esconda" o bastão,é o sexto ponto.
Volte com o "Cavalo"  para a posição inicial e extenda uma mão reta na frente de seu peito enquanto o bastão é extendido reto na direção do seu ombro direito então faça um movimento na forma de um "C" , o meio-ponto. Todos juntos formam os 6 pontos e meio.

He said:

-First strike with the staff three times in the same direction, this is called three points. Then using the staff to practice the horse stance, move the horse to the right and strike the fourth point. Then move the horse to the left and make the fifth point by making a circle with the staff. Move the horse to the left and "hide" the staff(sixth point). Turn the horse to the starting position, extend one hand straight out in front of the chest while the staff is extended straight out from the right shoulder so that they form a "C" shape(the half point). all togheter makes 6 1/2 points.

***馬 - Este ideograma significa literalmente "cavalo"(馬). Mas também é usado para falar "base"(stance) em chinês. Entre as razões está o fato de que uma pessoa tem duas pernas, mas se ela usar a força do oponente(que tb tem duas pernas) a seu favor, ela fica com quatro, como o cavalo.
No Brasil acabou-se por popularizar o termo "BASE CAVALO". O que na verdade pode ser uma redundância se levarmos em conta esta tradução. Mas este é um assunto bem curioso para outro momento. Me lembrem! "base cavalo"!! rs

LUK DIN BUN GWAAN : ESPECIAL DO BASTÃO DO VING TSUN (VING TSUN'S POLE SPECIAL: LUK DIN BUN GWAAN)

COMUNICADO AOS LEITORES:

Antes de começarmos, gostaria de agradecer aos montes de emails que tenho recebido, as mensagens pelo orkut e pelo facebook. Agradeço também em especial ao pessoal de Franco da Rocha que bateu o recorde de audiência aqui no Blog a uns dias atrás superando as visitas do Rio.

Por ultimo, quero agradecer também as pessoas que enviam mensagens preocupados com sites e blogs onde textos do BLOG DO PEREIRA tem sido copiados junto das fotos.

Os textos do especial Bruce Lee são uns dos mais copiados.

Mas queria dizer que o Blog hoje tem mais de três anos e é completamente compreensível que isso aconteça. Claro que gostaria apenas de ver a fonte citada(rs)não vou mentir, mas meu próprio conhecimento vem principalmente de meu Si Fu que aprendeu de seu próprio Si Fu e assim por diante, estava aí o tempo todo, eu só organizo do jeito que dá, mas não é só meu.

Há um bom tempo atrás, antes mesmo da estréia do primeiro filme de IP MAN eu fiz um comentário sobre este poster: "alguém precisa avisar a ele que a Linha Central está aberta!".

Talvez você não tenha entendido, ou tenha passado desapercebido, mas repare bem o quanto Ip Man está exposto neste poster, e o quanto o bastão não está protegendo ele.

A idéia do "Luk Din Bun Gwaan" é proteger você antes de mais nada, e para isso você tem que conseguir "sumir" atrás dele. Como? Ficando de lado.

Some time ago, I wrote about this poster of IP MAN MOVIE saying that he was not protecting the "Center line" with the staff(pole) in this picture.

Maybe you did not notice that, but look how unprotected Ip Man is in this poster.

The idea behind the Gwaan(pole) is to hide behind it, and to do that, you need to stand aside.

Mas falar do bastão do Ving Tsun sem aproveitar para falar do ancestral Leung Yi Tai(dono do carimbo acima) seria um desperdício.

Na verdade, muita gente associa a origem do bastão no Ving Tsun a Leung Yi Tai. 

Existem versões da história do Ving Tsun que dizem que Leung Yi Tai foi o responsável por inserir o bastão no sistema Ving Tsun em troca do que aprendeu.

Mas se isso for mesmo verdade, eu fico imaginando se Leung Lan Gwai não tivesse encontrado Leung Yi Tai e sim outra pessoa.

But talk about the Luk Din Bun Gwaan without talk about the ancestor Leung Yi Tai would be waste of time.
Indeed, a lot of people links Leung Yi Tai to the Luk Din Bun Gwaan, saying that he introduced that into the system as a gift for learn the Ving Tsun.

But if this story is real, I´m wondering if his Si Fu Leung Laan Gwai had met someone else, and this person just know how to use...

LEUNG YI TAI.

O junco vermelho era o barco (foto) usado pela Ópera Cantonesa para se locomover apresentando-se quando aportavam. Os juncos pertenciam ao King Fa Wui Gun(瓊花會館) que era a sede da Ópera.

Muitos revolucionários infiltraram-se  no King Fa Wui Gun(瓊花會館) pela sua facilidade de locomoção. E dentre as pessoas que viviam e trabalhavam no junco, existia um grupo chamado de "Senhores da Popa"(Suen Mei Suk). Mas não, eles não eram especialistas em preparar sucos bem gelados para os outros, eles eram os "bastoneiros" do Junco Vermelho, ou seja, o "Motor do barco"... a galera que remava!

The Red Junk(photo) was the ship of the Cantonese Opera Company to travel along the rivers and present their show in different cities. The Junks were from King Fa Wui Gun(瓊花會館)the Opera headquarters.

A lot of revolutionary started to use the red junks because it was easy to move between cities. But also, there were some people working in the red junk called: "Lords of the Stern"(Suen Mei Suk)...they use the rowing to make the boat move.

Esta era uma atividade tida como humilde dentro dos Juncos, e foi exatamente executando esta função, que surgiu Leung Yi Tai.
Leung Yi Tai foi aceito por Leung Laan Gwai como seu discípulo e a ele foi transmitido todo o legado do Ving Tsun.

Leung Yi Tai não terminaria seus dias como bastoneiro, pois posteriormente ele se tornou assistente de produção , ajudando os atores e cuidando das roupas e mais tarde atuou no papel de Daai Fa Min (大花面)
ou "primeira face multi-colorida". Ainda que "Fa"(花) signifique literalmente "flor".

This was a very low activity in the boat and between those men was Leung Yi Tai. A young fella who became disciple of Leung Lan Gwaai and received all the Ving Tsun legacy from this Si Fu.

Leung Yi Tai would not be a Suen Mei Suk forever. He became a production assistent and later an actor in the Opera as the Daai Fa Min (大花面) or "first multi-colored face" even "Fa"(花) meaning "flower".

Este era um papel feminino na Ópera e vemos esta questão representada no filme PRODIGAL SON(1982) quando um dos empregados de Leung Jaan se apaixona pela "Daai Fa Ming"(大花面) durante a apresentação sem saber que se tratava de um homem, no caso, Leung Yi Tai.

O próprio nome "Yi Tai" talvez seja uma espécie de codi-nome já que "Yi Tai"(二娣) significa "segunda irmã mais nova" ou "irmãzinha numero 2".

This was a female role in the Opera and this is showed in PRODIGAL SON(1982) when a employer of Leung Jaan fell in love for "Daai Fa Ming"(大花面)[photo] during a presentation. But "Daai Fa Ming"(大花面) was Leung Yi Tai.

The name "Yi Tai" is also strange 'cause it means "second younger sister"(二娣)or "little sister number two". maybe it was a code-name or a nickname.

MEETING LEUNG JAAN.

Leung Yi Taai se comoveu com a dedicação de Leung Jaan com os mais necessitados que não podiam pagar um tratamento médico, e o aceitou como discípulo tendo em vista que Leung Jaan era apaixonado por artes marciais.

E com a proibição das atividades da Ópera , Leung Yi Tai teve bastante tempo para se dedicar a seu pupilo.

Leung Yi Tai felt himlsef touched by the dedication of Leung Jaan for the poor people who could not pay for medical treatment. So he took Leung Jaan as a pupil.And as the Cantonese Opera activities was prohibited, he had a lot of time to spend with his pupil.

LENDAS ATRIBUÍDAS A LEUNG YI TAI:
SOME LEGENDS:

 Existe uma lenda muito divertida sobre Leung Yi Tai, que sua habilidade com o bastão era tamanha, que ele a havia adquirido, posicionando um quadro na margem oposta de um rio a que ele estava, e atando um pincel a ponta do Gwaan(bastão) ele fazia ideogramas para melhorar sua precisão;

There is a very funny legend about Leung Yi Tai that he used to stay in one side of a river and put a board in the opposite side. And using the staff(Luk Din Bun Gwaan) he tied a bursh on it and start to paint ideograms to trainning the precision of his staff.

 Foi essa lenda que deu origem a um dos treinos mais divertidos da turma do Siu Ye Kuen no Méier de todos os tempos como vemos na foto acima.
This legend gave me the idea to use that with the kids of the Siu Ye Kuen class.

MOY YAT PERGUNTA A IP MAN: "Quem foi o melhor com o Luk Din Bun Gwaan?"

Si Taai Gung Moy Yat no dia em que aprendeu o Luk Din Bun Gwaan de seu Si Fu Ip Man, durante a conversa perguntou:

-Si Fu, com relação ao Luk Din Bun Gwaan, quem foi o melhor que o senhor já viu?

Ip Man respondeu:

-Se você falar sobre os "dedos mais fortes" eu poderia dizer que eram os de Fung Siu Ching. Eu o vi fazer palitos com suas próprias mãos. Mas eu não poderia dizer quem é a autoridade em Luk Din Bun Gwaan, talvez eu nunca tenha visto uma. Mas eu ouvi dizer que o bastão de Leung Yi Tai foi o melhor.Isso pode ser verdade, mas como eu nunca vi, então não posso ter certeza se não passa apenas de uma história.

-Si Fu,who's Luk Din Bun Gwaan was the best that you´ve ever seen?

Ip man said:

-If you talk about who had the strongest fingers I could say that Fung Siu Ching is the best. I´ve seen him make matchsticks with his hands.But I could not say who is the authority on the Luk Din Bun Gwaan, maybe I´ve never seen one. I´ve heard that Leung Yi Tai´s Gwaan was the best. It may be true but I never saw it so I cant be sure it isnt just a story.

PRIMEIRO TREINO COLETIVO DA UNIDADE MÉIER EM 2010 (FIRST GROUP TRAINNING AT MYVT MEIER STUDIO IN 2010)

Ainda revoltado com as imagens divulgadas do novo CONAN, que mais parece o cantor Frank Aguiar sob efeito de anabolizantes no cenário de "Xena, a princesa guerreira", a boa notícia é que os treinos coletivos na Unidade Méier estão de volta...

Still angry with the images from CONAN 2010 with this guy who looks like the brazilian singer Frank Aguiar in a version "from hell" standing on a "Xena , warrior princess" location, the good news is that the group trainnings at Meier Studio has return.

As Unidades da Moy Yat Ving Tsun no Rio de Janeiro, funcionam dentro de outros locais que já tem seus próprios serviços com seus próprios horários. No Espaço Dharma por exemplo no horário da noite ficamos com uma sala com espaço reduzido, onde a princípio inclusive para mim não seria possível treinar.

The Studios of MYVT in RIO works inside another places wich has their own schedule. So , for us in night time we have a small room where in a first look, would be impossible to train.

Porém não dá para ficar idealizando o ambiente ideal e temos que fazer o melhor onde estamos.
But we can not stay wondering how good would be a bigger room, we have to do our best where we are.

Por isso que em "ROCKY 4"... err..digo, digo... em  "IP MAN 2", as cenas que mais mexeram comigo foram exatamente as do início do filme. Uma porque mostra a dificuldade de se começar um trabalho deste tipo num novo local (tendo em vista que Ip Man em FatSan no universo do filme era uma lenda e em Hong Kong não era ninguém até então) e outra pelo local que eles treinavam: Um terraço.

Thats why the firsts scenes of "ROCKY 4"... cof..cof... er... I mean "IP MAN 2" were the most touching for me. First, 'cause show the difficulty to start this type of work when you are new in a place, second 'cause show the place where they train: a rooftop.

Por isso que tudo depende muito de nossa atitude como diz sempre o meu Si Fu Julio Camacho. Não se deve esperar as coisas acontecerem para começar a atuar de determinada maneira, se criamos uma "cultura" quando a coisa ainda não está lá, quando ela aparece fica mais fácil.

So I think that depends to much of our atittude as my Si Fu Julio Camacho 11G VT always says. We must not wait for the things happen to start to do something, we have to create a "culture" when the things are not there. So, when the things happen is easier.

O foco da Família Kung Fu por lá durante os treinos tem sido tão intensos, que parece até que a cada semana a sala aumenta alguns centímetros.

The focus of Kung Fu Family there is so intense during the trainnings that it seems like the room gets bigger and bigger every week. Inch by Inch with our will.

Mesmo porque, bem antes desse treino coletivo, desta mesma sala sairam alguns dos novos praticantes mais marcantes desta nova geração como Guilherme Farias.

Well , was in this room that some special persons of the new generation like Gulherme Farias 12G VT...

E Felipe Mury(a esquerda).

And Felipe Mury(left) 12G VT showed up for Ving Tsun;

E outros que escreveram as primeiras linhas da Unidade Méier como Priscila Borges, a primeira mulher a ingressar na Família Kung Fu no Méier.

And some others who writen the first lines of MYVT Meier Studio like Priscila Borges 12G VT, the first female to be accepted into KF family.

E também foi nela que se deu a primeira visita oficial do Si Fu a Unidade Méier.
and was in this room that Si Fu came to do his first official visit to Meier Studio.

Por isso talvez, esta sala venha nos recebendo tão bem. 
Maybe thats the reason why this room treat us so well.

O treino coletivo é o momento em que praticantes de diferentes horários podem se encontrar para "trocar figurinhas" sobre o que viram em suas próprias sessões personalizadas com outros  praticantes.

The group trainning is the moment where a practitioner meets another to train what they saw during their own individual Ving Tsun Sessions.

A DESPEDIDA DE RAPHAEL (Raphael 12G VT Departure)

Esse pequeno rapazinho de camisa branca é o meu primo Leandro, e de camisa azul sou eu. Eu costumava passar as férias de Julho com ele. Ele morava em Recife e quando vinha para o Rio minha tia sempre nos levava em muitos lugares que eu nunca ia durante o ano, como o Barra Shopping(!!!)rs

Mas veja bem: Belo Horizonte foi o mais longe que fui até hoje... quer dizer, eu estive na Pavuna também.

This little boy wearing whit t-shirt is my cousin Leandro, and wearing blue T-shirt is me. I used to spend my vacations in July with him, 'cause he lived in Recife (north of Brazil) and always when he came to Rio we play togheter. His mother took me to a lot of places that I would never be. But I never went out from Brazil.

Como de costume, cheguei a Unidade Méier esta semana, um pouco mais cedo do que o horário do treino.
Ehh... a camisa folgada me engorda hein!

As usual, I arrived at MYVT Meier Studio earlier than the time of the beggining of the classes.

Este treino seria um pouco diferente dos demais, pois o jovem Raphael Evaristo faria sua última sessão de Siu Nim Tau antes de embarcar para os EUA.
Porque pelo jeito as crianças vão mais longe hoje em dia nas férias de Julho.

This trainning will be a little different, 'cause Raphael(12G VT) is going to the US to spend his vacations with his brother, Rodrigoin Washington,DC.

Man.. As I see nowadays the children go more far during JUly vacations than in my time.

Raphael geralmente chega por ultimo, mas nesse dia aconteceu algo bem interessante:Lucas que nunca se atrasa ficou sem sua condução e parecia que nem vinha mais. Raphael chegou antes da hora e ficamos só nós dois.

Raphael(12G VT) usually is the last one to arrive at the Ving Tsun Sessions, but this day something very interestining happened: Lucas(12G VT) missed his ride, so Raphael arrived first and finally we would spend some time togheter.

Não, eu não faço ninguém escrever de joelhos! É que o quadro estava baixo demais!
Sempre é falado um pouco da cultura do Ving Tsun. E ainda que pareça muitas vezes desnecessário, aprender e entender os ideogramas e a nomeclatura da arte, ajudam muitas vezes entre outras coisas, a entender a natureza do que você está fazendo.

No man! I dont say to the young ones stay on their knees! hehe

The board was too low.

We always talk about Ving Tsun Culture. Understanding the ideograms is always a way to understand the nature of the movements.

Na verdade foi um inicio de tarde muito interessante pois tenho poucas oportunidades de estar sozinho com o Raphael. E em Junho ele completou dois anos de treino comigo e eu completei dois anos de treino com ele.
Os dois treinam.

Indeed was a very good afternoon 'cause we never had opportunities to spend some time togheter. And last June he completed 2 years of trainning and so do I. 'Cause when I´m with him, the two of us are trainning.

O Siu Nim Tau é o primeiro nível do Ving Tsun. Ele é praticado totalmente na base "Yi Ji Kim Yeung Ma", mas existem razões para isso. Ainda assim, o Siu Nim Tau é um grande teste de paciência para as pessoas que chegam procurando apenas a parte marcial do Ving Tsun, mas na maioria das vezes, para os jovens o Siu Nim Tau pode soar um pouco..."parado" demais...

The Siu Nim Tau is the first level of Ving Tsun. It is practiced always in "Yi Ji Kim Yeung Ma", but there are some reasons for that. But even this way, O Siu Nim Tau asks for a lot of patience from "Martial Guys" and "Young ones"... 'cause they always say: "Siu Nim Tau has no leg work? I want to move!"

Mas sempre me impressiona muito a capacidade de focar dos dois. Eles são capazes de ficar as 2 horas de treino inteiras trabalhando os conteúdos do Siu Nim Tau nesta mesma base sem reclamar, sem perguntar quando eles poderão mexer a base novamente..rs

But I fell very touched by their will to focus all the 2 hours in the same standing position without complain, without ask nothing about "Move".

Eu lembro deste dia como se fosse hoje. Foi em Março de 2000. eu estava no Ensino Médio e estava no Siu Nim Tau. Eu tinha acabado de completar 16 anos e queria que o Siu Nim Tau acabasse logo porque enfim... "era muito parado"... Mas todos os dias que eu chegava no Mo Gun eu praticava a mesma coisa: LAP SAU.

I remember this day very clear. It was March,2000 . I was in High School and I was also trainning in Siu Nim Tau level. I was just completed 16 years old, and I wanted very much "to finish" the Siu Nim Tau, 'cause for me that was very boring. So everyday I missed classes at school to go train at Mo Gun, but everyday I train the same thing: LAP SAU!

Para mim, pior do que estar no Siu Nim Tau na época, era ficar sempre no Lap Sau... E cada vez mais eu matava aula para poder ir de manhã e a noite no Mo Gun, mas eu nunca saia do Lap Sau...Aí nesse dia eu matei aula e fui pra praia!rs Eu e minha mochila que parecia um band-aid gigante haviamos sido descobertos pela minha mãe, e se aparecessemos no Mo Gun em horário de aula, ela havia pedido para avisar...rsrs

For me, worst than be in Siu Nim Tau, was just trainning Lap Sau. And I missed many classes to go over Lap Sau, but finally my mom find out my plan, and if me and my "band-aid shape bag" appears again at Mo Gun in time of school she would know. So I went to the beach.

Pelo jeito Raphael e Lucas são muito mais inteligentes que eu era quando tinha a sua idade, eles simplesmente tem aceitado o seu momento sem reclamar ou querer acelerar como eu fazia...

As you see, Lucas(12G VT) and Raphael(12G VT) are smarter than I was at their age. They simply accept the Siu Nim Tau the way it is.

E ainda que um "Radical" ou outro estejam virados para o lado errado..rs Isso não é o mais importante, pois do jeito que as coisas vão eles tem tudo para chegar bem mais longe do que eu chegaria um dia.

So , even having to get better on the "radicals" of the ideograms..hehe I dont have any doubt that if they keep this quality of focus, they will go far than I ever be.
